Hey folks, what protocols do you use for your xianlu ji (线路鸡) and luodi ji (落地鸡)? My xianlu ji uses VLESS, and the luodi ji uses SS.
Are there any issues? I’m using a chained proxy setup.
There shouldn’t be any problem; it should be fine to use SS after you leave the country.
No, me too. Also, the section isn’t right; it’s not part of the operations feedback.
This is my first time setting up this kind of relay; I have no idea how to do it. I used to use VLESS all the time.
Okay, thanks, man. I tweaked a section a bit; as long as there are no issues, it’s good to go.
If your network line handles cross-border traffic, use VLESS whenever possible; unless it’s an IEPL or IPLC-type connection, in which case you can use Shadowsocks.
It’s just two hops: from mainland China to Hong Kong using vless, and from Hong Kong to Los Angeles using ss. Is that okay? Or would it be better to use vless everywhere?
It’s perfectly fine to connect from Hong Kong to Los Angeles using SS, and SS should have lower overhead than VLESS.
OK, thanks, man.
Thanks for sharing
Quick question: for a chained proxy setup with a relay (transit) node and an exit node, can’t both use VLESS + REALITY, or should I use VLESS + REALITY / VLESS + SS? If both are VLESS + REALITY, my chained proxy doesn’t seem to work on my end.
Usually it’s VLESS Reality + SS
I’ve spent half the day at it and I still don’t know what went wrong. Thanks, buddy ![]()
I’ve tested Shadowrocket and it’s fine, but for going live I still recommend SS—it has considerably less overhead.
I ran into this issue yesterday as well—it’s REALITY. Under this security setting it emulates a browser and accesses normally. It cannot be relayed. You can change the security to none or TLS, and that way VLESS will work.
Second hop, that is, the security of luò dì jī (落地鸡) cannot be REALITY, or else the first hop won’t connect, because the first hop isn’t normal browser access.
Shadowrocket — I still have no idea how to configure chained proxies. I’m on my computer, using the dialer-proxy syntax on Cash.
From the logs, the first hop to the second node was rejected.
Yes, that’s how I do it. Switch the second hop to SS. If all of them are your machines, you can hop directly on the server; the speed will be better. For chaining, it’s usually other people’s nodes that you buy—switch to your own.
First hop uses VLESS + REALITY on the routing device; second hop uses VLESS + SS. Is that okay?
